Miles Davis (1926–1991) was an American trumpeter and composer, one of the most influential figures in jazz. A pioneer of cool jazz with Birth of the Cool , he led innovations in bebop, hard bop, and modal jazz with Kind of Blue . In the 1970s, he experimented with jazz-rock fusion with Bitches Brew , revolutionizing the genre once again. His career was marked by constant exploration and change.
