As Bill Evans explained to an interviewer, "Jazz can't be explained; it must be experienced firsthand because it's about feelings, not words. Words are the product of reason and can't convey a feeling because they aren't part of it." The great pianist's response perfectly fits this multifaceted music, which, in keeping with the band's history, strikes a balance between jazz language, classical composure, and clear folk atmospheres.
Words cannot express the emotional stirrings evoked by a refined work like this, where the soloists' precious contributions are in tune with the sweetness of the compositions. Radiant hues, singable melodies, and dreamy moods prevail but do not exhaust the intense and colorful collective dialogue, which is rhythmically incisive and capable of freely exploring form.
