Myaskovsky and Shostakovich: two giants of twentieth-century music, two creators who survived Stalinism. In their works, both use technique to overcome the severity of evil: the art of perpetual transformation, to annihilate the eternal present of violence. These two superb sonatas are songs of imprisonment and, at the same time, hymns of redemption.

Myaskovsky and Shostakovich: two giants of the music of the 20th century, two survivors from Stalinism. In their own works they both use technique to triumph over the heaviness of evil: the art of continuous modification, to annihilate the eternal present of violence. These two superb Sonatas are songs of captivity and, together, anthems of resurgence.
