My Standards - Francesco Mascio

About ten years after his first recording release "Europa Jazz Quartet" and after eight albums characterized by the use of the most disparate stylistic ingredients, Francesco Mascio returns to his origins with a new work inspired by the jazz tradition: "My Standards". As the album title suggests, this is a production entirely composed of original pieces, eight of which are the result of songwriting matured over the years, while the compositions 'Esharef's Moment' and 'Soul of New York' are the result of ensemble experimentation based on the concept of radical improvisation. Although the album's theme is strongly focused on jazz, Mascio does not fail to express a marked versatility, which he manifests through the skillful use of numerous stylistic influences (Latin, world, soul, free, classical, and more) and his peculiar jazz crossover tuned to 432 Hertz. The album concludes with the solo classical guitar composition "Notes from the heart", from which Mascio reveals a dense emotional component, already strongly marked throughout his work.
