Al Di Meola (1954) is an American guitarist among the protagonists of jazz fusion. He rose to fame in the 1970s with Chick Corea's Return to Forever. A virtuoso with lightning-fast technique, he has combined jazz, rock, and Mediterranean sounds on albums such as Elegant Gypsy . He has collaborated with Paco de Lucía and John McLaughlin.
