Bruno Walter combines Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique, Op. 14 with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and the Stabat Mater attributed to Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina with the Chor der Wiener Staatsoper.
Recordings
The sequence contrasts Berlioz’s large Romantic orchestral fresco with a sacred choral work from the polyphonic tradition.
