This selection of chamber music for cello aims to explore the gradual emergence of the Romantic idea of ​​music at the height of the historical period known as Classicism. Although still partly modeled on the late eighteenth-century model, these works push beyond the usual aesthetic formulas of their time, revealing the restlessness and curiosity for the new horizons that revolutionary thought had opened to the minds of Europeans, in the wake of "sentiment" and, above all, a new mythology that, as Friedrich von Schlegel wrote, "must be formed from the utmost depth of the spirit."
