Tchaikovsky's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra Op. 35 is undoubtedly one of the most celebrated concertos for violin and orchestra ever composed in the history of music.
This Velut Luna edition features Giovanni Angeleri, a highly renowned virtuoso who has won, among other awards, the prestigious Paganini Competition in Genoa.
In this case, Angeleri also conducts, leading the distinguished Orchestra delle Venezie, which he has shaped into a surprising interpretation that manages to bring out new nuances of this fascinating and absolutely immortal score.
The project is completed by the interesting Méditation for violin and orchestra, which directly derives from the first draft of the Andante of the Concerto, in the version for violin and piano, later replaced by the second draft - the Canzonetta.
In this recording, Giovanni Angeleri presents his own revision, which faithfully adheres to Tchaikovsky's original piano text.

I discovered Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto Op. 35 in the sixties, as promotional disk of a brandy.
The just heard performance reactivates that emotion, with unsurpassed details and fine quality.
The still unknown "Meditation" is the cherry on the cake.
I think I will listen it at least once a week: the file won't wear out...
(Same listening frequency of another beautiful Velut HD file, "Vivaldi Piazzolla, the 8 seasons")
