A puzzle of emotions
Puzzle of memories, Mauro De Federicis' second work for our publishing house, stems from the idea of exploring, with different musicalities and sounds, a world of memories, a journey of sounds, images, sensations.
Rocco Patriarca
Mauro wanted to take on the difficult challenge of different stories and moments, with memory as a delicate yet extremely tenacious unifying thread. Mauro interpreted this concept in his own way, traveling through different styles and rhythms, but also through different moments of his memory, in a succession of experiences accumulated over twenty years of career, a lot for his young age.
At the center of his journey through memory, the guitar. Or rather, his guitars, each with its own stories, its own sounds, its own anecdotes. This time, not through a defined, albeit refined, sound, at the service of a project, as in Canzoni and More, his previous work for this label. This time with different sounds, just as different are the stories told and different are the styles of musical narration. But also with overlapping memories, just as the guitars overlap, one or more, electric or classical. Sometimes acoustic. But always elegant, refined, with a rich sound.
Accompanying him is a young and excellent band, a gritty rhythm section flanked by a brass section that offers, to this work, a second and decisive theme of interest and connection between the various tracks. Generous but never too present brass, playful and expressive sounds, almost as much as the guitars designed to offer, to a mature and attentive audience, a "true" sound, even when "electric".
From a technical point of view, this project was also curated by Stefano Isola, who put all his experience into providing Mauro with the necessary support to express himself at his best. Despite recording in the studio, in naturally reverberant rather than "dead" environments, flanked by a generous and highly professional Marco Pallini, owner of the "Skunk" studio where the recording was made, Stefano did not want to forgo the canons of "simplicity," acquiring the signal directly into the splendid RME Micstasy, each in 96/24 format, for maximum overall quality.
"Puzzle of memories" aims to tell stories, made of life, music, and sounds.
