Maria Callas — The RAI Concerts (CS203)

This collection brings together two groups of Maria Callas radio performances for RAI: the RAI programme recorded in Rome on 18 February 1952 with Oliviero De Fabritiis and the programme recorded in Sanremo on 27 December 1954 with Alfredo Simonetto. The repertoire spans Verdi, Donizetti, Delibes, Mozart, Meyerbeer, Charpentier and Rossini.

Recordings

The collection brings together the RAI programme recorded in Rome on 18 February 1952 with Oliviero De Fabritiis and the programme recorded at the Casino in Sanremo on 27 December 1954 with Alfredo Simonetto.

What are DSD and DXD?

DSD (Direct Stream Digital) is a 1-bit digital encoding system based on pulse-density modulation. DSD64 operates at about 2.8 MHz, DSD128 at 5.6 MHz and DSD256 at 11.2 MHz. Compatible playback equipment is required.

DXD (Digital eXtreme Definition) is a very high-resolution PCM format operating at 352.8kHz in the version offered here and requires compatible equipment.
