Kertész: Dvořák & Beethoven — Symphony No. 6 & Egmont Overture

Two cornerstone works of the nineteenth-century orchestral repertoire come together in this live programme conducted by István Kertész with the London Symphony Orchestra: Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 6 in D Major, Op. 60, B. 112 and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, Op. 84.

Dvořák’s Sixth combines symphonic momentum, lyrical breadth and a strong Bohemian rhythmic character. Kertész shapes the score with a natural sense of flow. Beethoven’s Egmont closes the programme with a concentrated theatrical profile.

Recordings

The orchestra responds vividly to Kertész’s rhythmic conception and clarity of orchestral design.

What are DSD and DXD?

DSD (Direct Stream Digital) is a 1-bit digital encoding system based on pulse-density modulation. DSD64 operates at approximately 2.8 MHz, DSD128 at approximately 5.6 MHz, and DSD256 at approximately 11.2 MHz. Playback requires a compatible DAC or player.

DXD (Digital eXtreme Definition) is a very high-resolution PCM format at 352.8kHz. It was also developed as a professional editing and post-production environment and requires a compatible DAC or player.
