Cluytens: Wagner, Mussorgsky & Ravel — Orchestral Works

André Cluytens explores three contrasting orchestral worlds: Wagner with the Orchestre du Théâtre National de l’Opéra de Paris, Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition in Ravel’s orchestration with the ORF Orchestra, and two works by Ravel with the Orchestre de la Société des Concerts du Conservatoire.

What are DSD and DXD?

DSD (Direct Stream Digital) is a 1-bit digital encoding system based on pulse-density modulation. DSD64 operates at approximately 2.8 MHz, DSD128 at approximately 5.6 MHz, and DSD256 at approximately 11.2 MHz. Playback requires a compatible DAC or player.

DXD (Digital eXtreme Definition) is a very high-resolution PCM format; in the Capsa standard it operates at 352.8kHz. Developed also as a professional editing and post-production environment, it requires a compatible DAC or player.
