Dimitri Mitropoulos conducts Hector Berlioz’s monumental Grande Messe des morts, Op. 5, with Nicolai Gedda in the Sanctus.

The recording was made on 26 August 1956 in Saal 1 of the Funkhaus in Cologne, with the Kölner Rundfunk-Sinfonie-Orchester, Kölner Rundfunkchor and the chorus of Norddeutscher Rundfunk. The performance is live.
