I discovered Jim Croce, and his songs, on a hot afternoon in early summer 1980, while I was preparing for my high school exam. And I immediately loved his world, made of little stories, never banal, built on "that" music that I already loved, a wise mix of country and a bit of blues: I immediately realized that sooner or later I would have to do something more to keep alive the memory of this sincere and nice musician.
32 years have passed since then… and 39 since that ugly evening of September 20, 1973 when a cruel fate, hidden between the wings of the Beechcraft D-18 and the only Peacan Tree that separated the plane from the open sky in which a cruel fate took Jim away from us, and here I am, finally, paying homage to an artist who was and is important to me and to many other people who loved and love his songs.
So long, Jim!

About the “Memories”
The choice of Jim's songs to put on CD was not painless. It was clear from the beginning that many of his most beautiful songs would not find the space they deserved. Also, as an arranger, I wanted to find a way to involve the other musicians more in the project. The "memories" were born in this way, with the request to create a
short personal piece inspired by one or more songs by the American singer-songwriter. The listener's task is to close his eyes and recognize some notes or phrases hidden in his memory.
