“Chopin & Schumann” is one of the new coming soon releases by the italian label Velut Luna. It will be a world premiere recording. The apparently ordinary-looking title reveals an album that want to come up with important new things. The protagonist of this project is an Italian duo formed by the double-bassist Orazio Ferrari and the pianist Marco Sanna. With this set up they play, among the other tracks, two great works of chamber music, the Cello Sonata in g minor op.65 by Fryderyk Chopin and the Adagio & Allegro in A flat Major op.70 by Robert Schumann. Playing these works on the double-bass “at pitch” and in the original key, represents an ambitious project that want to show a new and bold way of thinking the double-bass, underlining at the best the similarity in terms of voice between the double-bass and the cello, taking advantage of the absolute beauty of this repertoire. Bonus tracks and a rich booklet complete this brand new album release.
