Initially, his proposal to commercialize the live recording was rejected, but eventually, his record label decided to release the album \"At Folsom Prison.\" Encouraged by the success of his prison recording, Columbia Records released \"At San Quentin\" shortly after. The recording, in which Cash and his band were frantically applauded more or less at the end of every verse, exceeded all expectations.
