Non voglio aggiungere altro, la musica è meravigliosamente descrittiva ed è giusto che sia l’ascoltatore a creare i suoi mondi e a percepire i quadri che ogni brano dipinge.\u003cbr\u003eNonostante il repertorio sia noto agli appassionati, questo è un disco particolare e, contrariamente allo standard, ve lo racconto in prima persona.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNon avevo il coraggio di suonare gli Études nemmeno quando facevo il pianista a tempo pieno, nonostante avessi sotto le mani le maggiori opere di Rachmaninov, compreso il suo formidabile terzo concerto. Ho pensato invece di studiarli e inciderli quando la vita si è fatta molto più complessa; ingegnere di giorno, pianista di notte. Non voglio mentire dicendo che conciliare le due cose sia facile, non lo è. Suonare a livello da incisione è già di per sé una grande sfida, aggiungere un lavoro complesso da tutti i giorni, rende il tutto eccezionalmente provante. Queste righe fungono da contesto al concetto fondamentale che desidero passi a chi leggerà queste parole: è possibile porsi e centrare obiettivi apparentemente impossibili in un contesto di vita già più che piena. E lo dico perché vale la pena, qualunque cosa si scelga. Le sfide, vinte o perse, ci regalano insegnamenti preziosissimi in primis sul nostro io, sui nostri limiti che puntualmente si riveleranno errati, e poi ci donano una magnifica ondata di conoscenza nuova, ad ampio spettro. Quello che ci vuole è una buona dose di volontà inossidabile, una predisposizione a resistere alla fatica, a volte alla sofferenza, e non farsi mai distrarre dall’obiettivo primario. E un’altra cosa scrivo, non accontentarsi mai di imparare, studiare, sfidarsi, migliorarsi. Perché la soddisfazione è la morte del desiderio.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOra, venendo alle particolarità di questo disco, cominciamo col fatto che il pianoforte utilizzato per l’incisione è il mio personale: un meraviglioso Bechstein D282 che io chiamo\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ci\u003eAlbus\u003c\/i\u003e. Un sogno di una vita intera, durato più di vent’anni, diventato realtà.\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ci\u003eAlbus\u003c\/i\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003emi è stato consegnato direttamente da Berlino questo aprile (2023) e la sua inaugurazione è stata proprio l’incisione di questo disco. La preparazione e accordatura del pianoforte per l’incisione, l’ho curata personalmente.\u003cbr\u003eAltro fatto peculiare è che questo disco l’ho registrato io. Con ciò intendo proprio che il lavoro di sound and balance engineer (posizionamento dei microfoni, bilanciamento, trattamento acustico e registrazione) l’ho svolto personalmente. Avevo in mente una ripresa che fosse il più fedele possibile al suono dello strumento, estremamente dettagliata e precisa, con particolare attenzione dedicata ad ottenere una perfetta immagine sonora. La scelta è ricaduta inevitabilmente su elettroniche di assoluta eccellenza e dalla caratteristica di una risposta in frequenza lineare e timbrica neutra: microfoni Sennheiser e Schoeps, omnidirezionali e sub-cardiodi per una grande presenza e cristallina pulizia, preamplificatori Millennia e Rupert Neve che garantissero la minor alterazione possibile del segnale nativo, cavi di segnale all’altezza dei componenti citati.\u003cbr\u003eAnche questo è il frutto di anni di studio, di esperienza e di errori; un doveroso grazie va ai preziosi insegnamenti del mio produttore Marco Lincetto al quale ho poi lasciato le tracce finite. Nelle sapienti mani di Marco ho affidato la delicata fase di missaggio e mastering, rigorosamente in catena analogica, come piace a me. Il risultato è una registrazione con un suono naturale e di grande impatto che, con un impianto ben costruito, vi fa entrare il pianoforte in casa, in tutta la sua gloria.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRiguardo la scelta dei brani e del loro ordine, è da molto tempo che intuitivamente avevo immaginato questa esatta sequenza. È un percorso di suoni e di immagini che nella mia testa si è sviluppato proprio così, che amo particolarmente e pertanto, non necessiterebbe di ulteriore illustrazione. Ciononostante, aggiungo che da persona che naturalmente percepisce e immagina mondi astratti, al di là delle immagini che questi brani-quadro evocano, la loro sequenza, per spiegarla a parole comprensibili, mi ricorda una bellissima iterazione di funzioni sinusoidali in tre dimensioni spaziali e una temporale, traducibile in un lenzuolo di puro spazio che si muove sinuosamente, avvolgendoti a volte, intervallando momenti di grandissimo impeto ad altri di profonda riflessione, a volte sgomenta, ma in ogni caso intima. A fronte dell’incisione integrale, l’aver estratto questi dodici brani in questo esatto ordine, non ha fatto altro che confermare quell’intuizione avuta molto tempo addietro. Raccomando un ascolto di filato per comprendere al meglio quanto scritto sopra.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRachmaninov e io.\u003cbr\u003eSi potrebbe dedicare l’intero libretto solo a questo tema. Semplicemente, per concludere, la sua musica è la mia anima gemella in musica. Ho dedicato gli ultimi quindici anni a studiare e suonare le sue opere.
